About Me

Dustin Marsh, PsyD

My focus as a psychologist is to provide a safe and sacred place for people to deepen their awareness, develop mental clarity, and focus their intentions on all aspects of life that are meaningful. The basis of my scientific work is through Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (said as "ACT" in one word), 8 Dimensions of Wellness, and cultivation of a Contemplative Practice. Through these considerations, I utilize our individualized working relationship as a means to recognize what aspects of your life need attention and flexibility to regain your healing and health. I would like to share here that therapy with me should be considered if you are willing to put forth the work and effort to overcome the difficulties that led you to starting therapy or changing therapists.

I am dedicated to this craft, not only as a professional, but as a human being who feels passionate about the purpose of improving the lives of individuals and communities as a whole. I invest my free time in self-development, exercise, spiritual studies and participate in the practices that we will explore and consider as options in your therapy. And although I started my career in psychology as an obsession with science, it has changed in my own work in meaningful ways to consider that it is not just our psychology that needs to heal. It is the relationship between our body (physical), mind (phenomenological), and soul (the deeper meaning) that allows us to build in our authenticity and autonomy during our lives.

My style of therapy is interactive, and focused on disrupting behavioral patterns that have you stuck. I will provide care and consistency, as well as creative means (mindfulness exercises, metaphor, stories, information, whiteboard, behavior chaining) to experience your difficulties through a perspective that allows you to reframe them. I provide some aspects of self-disclosure that depends on the time we have worked together, and whether the disclosure will add to your healing process.

The amount of time I work with people ranges, but transformation often is a process for extended duration. It makes sense to consider that something you have experienced and thought about for years or even decades, will not reside spontaneously in weeks or months. However, we will work together to make sure your feel as though your time in each session is moving you towards growth.

*Disclaimer: I do not provide religious interpretations or doctrine in therapy although you may express your considerations of your religion, culture, or spirituality within session.
